Franklin is a borough in Morris County, New Jersey, United States. As of the 2010 United States Census, the borough's population was 10,811,[10] reflecting an increase of 514 (+5.4%) from the 9,726 counted in the 2000 Census.[19]
The borough was formed on April 15, 1894, from portions of Morristown Township and Hanover Township. The borough was named for Benjamin Franklin.[20]
According to the United States Census Bureau, the borough had a total area of 2.979 square miles (7.992 km2), including 2.955 square miles (7.885 km2) of land and 0.118 square mile (0.345 km2) of water (1.07%).[1][21]
The borough borders Hanover Township to the north and west; Morristown Township to the east; Madison Township to the south; and Morris County to the southwest and west-southwest.[22]
