Jackson Heights, NY

Jackson Heights is a neighborhood in the borough of Queens, New York City. It is located in the eastern portion of the borough, bounded by Main Street to the north, Roosevelt Avenue to the east, and 73rd Street to the south. The area was originally part of a tract purchased by John Jacob Astor in 1811 and named after General James Jackson. The first major development in Jackson Heights occurred with construction of Astoria Houses in 1917-1918.

Today, Jackson Heights is one of New York City's most diverse neighborhoods with a population that ranges from middle-class families to affluent professionals. Its many cultural attractions include two museums (the Museum of Modern Art and Queens Museum), two theaters (the Palace Theatre and Longacre Theatre), several parks ( Flushing Meadows Corona Park and Van Cortlandt Park), as well as numerous restaurants, cafes, bakeries and stores catering to its diverse population.

Real estate in Jackson Heights has always been popular due to its convenient location close to both Manhattan and Queensboro Plaza (formerly known as Flushing Meadows Corona Park).
