Jackson Heights is a neighborhood in the borough of Queens, New York City. It is located in the eastern portion of the borough, bounded by Main Street to the north, Roosevelt Avenue to the east, and 73rd Street to the south. The area was originally part of a tract purchased by John Jacob Astor in 1811 and named after General James Jackson. The first major development in Jackson Heights occurred with construction of Astoria Houses in 1917-1918.
