Valley Stream is a town in Nassau County, New York, United States. The population was 33,521 at the 2010 census. Valley Stream is located on the eastern border of Long Island and is bisected by the Great South Bay.

The area that would become Valley Stream was first settled in 1653 as part of the Town of Hempstead. The town's name was derived from its location along a valley between two hills (Valley Brook). In 1873, portions of what would become Valley Stream were annexed by neighboring East Meadow and Westbury.
