Webster, NY

Webster, NY is a small town located in the Southern Tier of New York. The population of Webster was 9,851 as of the 2010 census. Webster is best known for its agricultural and manufacturing industries, but it has also been a center for real estate since the early 1800s.

The first settlers in Webster arrived in 1802. The town was founded by Judge Ebenezer Chapin and named after Daniel Webster, who was then Secretary of State under President John Adams. At first, Webster consisted of just a few farms and mills. However, over time the town grew to become an important commercial center due to its location on the Erie Canal and railroads that passed through it.

Today, real estate remains one of the main sources of income for Webster residents. The town's many businesses – including restaurants, stores, and offices – have helped make it one of the most prosperous towns in upstate New York. In addition to its commercial properties, Webster is also home to several large residential complexes – including Lakeside Village and Lakeside Towers – that have helped make it one of the most populous towns in Sullivan County.
