West Harrison is a village in Westchester County, New York, United States. The population was 2,814 at the 2010 census. It is part of the White Plains–Arlington–West Harrison, NY Metropolitan Statistical Area.
The village was first settled around 1798 by settlers from Connecticut and Massachusetts. The area was known as " Harrison Corners" until 1892, when it was renamed for West Harrison County (which had been formed in 1894 from parts of Dutchess and Putnam counties). The village's early economy depended on agriculture and manufacturing; today it is principally a residential community with a small commercial center.
The Village of West Harrison has its own Police Department which covers an area of 1 square mile with a population of approximately 2,000 people living within that boundary. There are currently six full-time officers assigned to patrol this area 24 hours per day 7 days per week. In addition there are two part-time officers who also work nights and weekends as needed to cover any special events or emergencies that may arise while the regular police force is off duty or otherwise occupied
