Ramseur is a small town located in Caldwell County, North Carolina. The population of Ramseur was 1,851 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Caldwell County.

The town was founded in 1853 by James and Martha Ramsey and named for General Andrew Jackson's home in Tennessee, Ramseur. The town grew rapidly as a railroad stop on the Charlotte & Southwestern Railroad and became an agricultural center with tobacco, cotton, and soybeans as major crops. In the early 1900s, coal mining began to play an important role in the local economy; however, this industry declined after World War II.

Today, Ramseur is primarily a residential community with a few businesses scattered throughout the town. The downtown area features several historic buildings including the old courthouse (now used for municipal offices), several churches (including First Baptist Church), and two banks (the Bank of America and BB&T).
