Woodsfield is a small town located in Summit County, Ohio. The population was 2,812 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Akron- Canton metropolitan area.
The town was founded in 1814 and named for its location in the woods near a spring. The first settler was Ebenezer Woods. The town grew slowly until the late 1800s when it began to experience rapid growth as a result of its proximity to Akron and Canton. By 1900, Woodsfield had reached its peak population of 3,000 residents. However, due to the Great Depression and other factors, the population declined by half by 1950 and has since remained relatively stable at around 2,800 residents.
Today, Woodsfield is primarily an agricultural community with a small business district along Main Street.
