Loyal, OK

Loyal is a small town located in Pottawatomie County, Oklahoma. The population was 1,821 at the 2010 census. Loyal is home to the Loyal Independent School District and two churches: the United Methodist Church and the Apostolic Faith Missionary Baptist Church.

The town of Loyal was founded in 1892 by a group of settlers who had come from Missouri. The town's name is derived from the loyalist sentiment of many of its early residents, who were opposed to the American Revolution and sought refuge in Canada after it ended. Loyal's economy is based largely on agriculture, with crops such as cotton, corn, wheat and sorghum being grown on local farms. However, since Loyal is located just outside of Oklahoma City metropolitan area, there has been a recent increase in commercial development within the town limits. This includes a new Walmart store that opened in 2012 and several other businesses that cater to local residents and tourists alike.

Loyal has an excellent school system that provides students with quality education regardless of their socio-economic background or location within the district boundaries. There are currently six schools operating within Loyal ISD: four elementary schools (K-3), one middle school (4-6) and one high school (7-12). Each school offers a variety of classes and activities designed to meet the needs of students from all backgrounds and interests. In addition to traditional academic subjects, students are also exposed to career opportunities through programs like Advanced Placement courses and dual enrollment opportunities with colleges across Oklahoma State University System campuses.

Loyal is located just minutes away from both downtown Oklahoma City and Mooreland Hills Regional Park which features miles upon miles of hiking trails as well as numerous golf courses for residents to enjoy year round. The community also boasts several recreational facilities including an indoor pool complex, basketball courts, tennis courts as well as a playground for children ages 0-5 years old free of charge every Saturday morning during summer months!
