Bessemer is a borough in Jefferson County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 1,851 at the 2010 census. Bessemer is located at 40°5′14″N 75°39′49″W / 40.083278°N 75.660972°W / 40.083278; -75.660972 According to the United States Census Bureau, the borough has a total area of 0.4 square miles (1.1 km2), all of it land.[3] As of the census[4] of 2000, there were 1,912 people, 711 households, and 527 families residing in the borough. The population density was 2,721 people per square mile (1,040/km²). There were 776 housing units at an average density of 1,068 per square mile (412/km²). The racial makeup of the borough was 98% White
