Broomall, PA

Broomall is a borough in Delaware County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 10,898 at the 2010 census. Broomall is located at 40°5′N 75°9′W (40.096,-75.158).

The borough of Broomall was incorporated on April 2, 1892 from portions of Upper Darby Township and Lower Darby Township. It is named for the broom plant which was abundant in the area when it was first settled. The borough's early economy was based on agriculture and coal mining but today it is primarily a residential community with a small commercial center.

As of the census of 2000, there were 10,711 people, 4,912 households, and 3,564 families residing in the borough. The population density was 2,836 people per square mile (1,118/km²). There were 5,151 housing units at an average density of 1,062 per square mile (410/km²). The racial makeup of the borough was 95% White
