Upper Darby, PA

Upper Darby is a borough in Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 69,098 at the 2010 census. Upper Darby is bordered by the city of Philadelphia to the east and south, Montgomery County to the west and north, and Delaware County to the northeast.

The borough was founded in 1854 as a result of the construction of an interurban railway line that passed through it. It was initially called "The Station" after its location on what was then known as The Main Line. The name was later changed to " Upper Darby" after a suggestion by Dr. John Ebersole, who owned land in both Upper Darby Township and Radnor Township (now part of Montgomery County). Upper Darby became an incorporated borough on February 4, 1876.
