Quakertown, PA

Quakertown is a borough in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 7,827 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Philadelphia metropolitan area.

The borough was founded in 1795 and named for Quaker William Penn. The town was originally laid out on land donated by George Fox and other Quakers. In 1853, the railroad came to Quakertown and it quickly became an important transportation hub for coal and lumber from the surrounding forests. The borough's economy has since diversified into other sectors such as health care, information technology, and manufacturing.

Today, Quakertown is a thriving community with a rich history that can be seen in its many landmarks and attractions. Some of these include: the historic district known as "The Square", which features many 19th century homes; the Fox Chapel Friends Meetinghouse; Mount Zion Cemetery; Stroudsburg University's campus; and the Bucks County Courthouse Museum.
