Shelocta, PA

Shelocta is a small town located in the Lehigh Valley region of Pennsylvania. The population of Shelocta was just over 2,000 as of the 2010 census. The town is situated on the eastern border of Monroe County and is bordered by Easton to the north, Allentown to the east, Bethlehem to the south, and Whitehall to the west.

The history of Shelocta can be traced back to 1740 when a group of settlers from New Jersey established a farm on what is now known as Main Street. The town began to grow in popularity in 1810 when it was designated as the county seat for Monroe County. By 1850, Shelocta had become a bustling community with several businesses and churches operating within its boundaries.

Today, Shelocta remains an important community within Monroe County with many businesses and services available for residents. The town has seen significant growth over the past few years due in part to its proximity to major metropolitan areas such as Philadelphia and Allentown. As a result, there are currently several new businesses opening up each year including restaurants, retail stores, and medical facilities. Additionally, several new homes have been built in recent years which has helped increase housing prices within Shelocta significantly.
