Chester, TX

Chester is a city located in Dallas County, Texas, United States. As of the 2010 census, the population was 9,848. It is part of the Dallas– Fort Worth metroplex.

The city was founded in 1876 and named for Chester A. Arthur, 21st President of the United States. The first post office opened in 1877.

Chester is home to many businesses and organizations including: AT&T Park (home of the Texas Rangers), The University of Texas at Arlington, Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Company (Lockheed Martin's main plant), Toyota Motor Manufacturing North America (Toyota's main plant), and numerous other small businesses and organizations.

The city has seen significant growth over the past few years with new development coming online such as: The Shops at Willow Bend which includes a Macy's department store; The Domain which includes a movie theater; and several other new retail establishments that have brought much needed jobs to the area. Additionally, there are plans for even more development in Chester including an expansion of Toyota Motor Manufacturing North America which would bring an additional 1,500 jobs to the area.
