Crystal City is a suburb of Dallas, Texas. The population was 14,839 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Dallas- Fort Worth- Arlington metropolitan area.

The city was founded in 1924 by Roy and Addie Ladd as a planned community. Crystal City is named after the crystal clear water of nearby Lake Ray Hubbard. The city's first subdivision, Park Place, was developed in 1925 and featured Tudor Revival architecture. In 1927, the Ladds founded the Crystal City Company to manage their development projects.

In 1928, Roy Ladd designed and built his own home on Park Place; it still stands today and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. In 1930, Addie Ladd opened an art gallery on Park Place which became one of the most successful businesses in Crystal City. In 1935, Roy Ladd designed and built his second home on Park Place; it also still stands today and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

In 1941, Roy Ladd donated his estate (including both homes) to be used as a country club for residents of Crystal City; it continues to operate as such today under new ownership. In 1947, Addie Ladd donated her art gallery to be used as a museum which now bears her name; it remains open to this day.

In 1951, construction began on what would become known as "The Village", a series of large single-family homes which were among the most popular developments in Crystal City during that era. The Village featured distinctive modernist architecture by notable architects including John Staubus Jr., Arie Schoemaker & Associates and Welton Becket & Associates which has been preserved and remains largely unchanged since its construction over fifty years ago..

In 1965, development began on what would become known as "The Lakes", a series of large lakeside estates which were among the most popular developments in Crystal City during that era..
