Flower Mound is a city located in Denton County, Texas, United States. As of the 2010 census, the city had a population of 103,822. It is part of the DallasFort Worth metroplex. Flower Mound is home to The University of North Texas and its nationally ranked College of Business.

The city was founded in 1909 by George W. Preston and named for his wife Flora Belle Preston. The original plat consisted of just over one square mile (2 km²). In 1923, the first subdivision was platted and named "The Meadows." In 1925, a post office was established at this location and it has been in operation ever since.

In 1927, an airport was built on land donated by George W. Preston and it became known as Preston Field. The airport served as a training ground for pilots during World War II and later became known as Dallas/ Fort Worth International Airport. In 1961, the airport was renamed Flower Mound Municipal Airport in honor of Flora Belle Preston who had died two years earlier.

Today Flower Mound is one of the fastest growing cities in North Texas with new subdivisions being developed all the time!
