Purdon, TX

Purdon is a small town located in Denton County, Texas. The population was 2,527 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Dallas- Fort Worth metroplex.

The town was founded in 1881 and named for Judge J. Purdon of the Texas Supreme Court. The first post office opened in 1882. Purdon is home to the Purdon Independent School District and has one elementary school, one middle school, and one high school.

Real estate in Purdon is dominated by single-family homes on large lots with some commercial development nearby. Median home prices were $247,000 in 2016 according to Zillow data. The town has a strong economy based on its proximity to Dallas and Fort Worth as well as its agricultural production (mainly cattle).
