Morgan was founded in 1883 by John Morgan and his brother-in-law Orson Pratt. The town was named for General James Morgan who fought in the Mexican-American War. The first settler in Morgan was George W. Peck who arrived in 1881. Peck built a cabin on what is now known as "Peck's Ridge". In 1883, John Morgan and Orson Pratt built a store on Main Street which became the nucleus of the town.

The first schoolhouse was built in 1884 and classes were held there until 1886 when a larger schoolhouse was constructed on what is now known as " Morgan School Site". This building served as both a schoolhouse and a church until 1907 when it became solely a schoolhouse. In 1909, an addition was made to this building which doubled its capacity as a schoolroom. A new schoolhouse was constructed in 1957 which still serves as the primary educational facility for students residing within Morgan boundaries today.

Today, much of what makes Morgan unique remains unchanged since its founding over 100 years ago: its small town feel; its close proximity to nature; and its commitment to education are just some of these qualities that make Morgans residents proud!
