West Point, VA

West Point is a small town located in Frederick County, Virginia. The population of West Point was 2,848 as of the 2010 census. It is home to the United States Military Academy at West Point.

The history of West Point dates back to 1779 when General George Washington decided to establish a military academy here. The academy opened its doors in 1802 and has educated some of America's most distinguished leaders, including Ulysses S. Grant, Dwight D. Eisenhower and John F Kennedy. Today, the academy continues to produce some of America's finest military officers and civilian professionals.

West Point is located in central Virginia and is easily accessible by car or bus from Washington D.C., Baltimore and Richmond. The town features many shops, restaurants and bars that cater to residents and visitors alike. There are also several recreational opportunities available in the area, including golfing at nearby Pinehurst Resort Country Club or skiing at nearby Snowshoe Mountain Resort.
