Mountlake Terrace is a suburb of Seattle, Washington. The population was 28,811 at the 2010 census. It is part of King County.

The Mountlake Terrace area was first settled in 1851 by Charles W. Larrabee and his family. The Larrabee Homestead, now a museum, is located in the town center. In 1909, the Mountlake Terrace Land Company was organized to subdivide the land and sell it to settlers. The company's name commemorates Mount Rainier, which can be seen from many parts of town.

In 1912, the first houses were built in what would become Mountlake Terrace. By 1916, there were enough residents to form a village council and elect a mayor. In 1918, the village became an incorporated city with a population of 1,500 people. The city's motto is "The Place Where Progress Begins."

Today, Mountlake Terrace is home to many high-end homes and businesses that cater to Seattle's wealthy elite. Many residents commute into Seattle for work or school; however, there are also plenty of amenities available within the city limits for those who want to stay close to home.

Real estate in Mountlake Terrace ranges from modest single-family homes and condos in older neighborhoods near downtown to some of the most luxurious properties in all of King County – including some that can cost more than $5 million! There are also plenty of options for buyers who want something different – from traditional suburban neighborhoods with large lots and easy access to shopping and schools (including two private schools), to newer developments with more urban feel and shorter commutes into Seattle (but still plenty of space for outdoor activities).

If you're looking for an upscale suburbia close to both Seattle and Bellevue – without having to deal with traffic congestion or high prices – then you'll definitely want to check out Mountlake Terrace!
