Mahwah is a township in Bergen County, New Jersey, United States. As of the 2010 United States Census, the township's population was 17,811,[9][10] reflecting an increase of 1,569 (+14.7%) from the 16,868 counted in the 2000 Census,[19] which had in turn increased by 2,724 (+27.4%) from the 13,589 counted in the 1990 Census.[20] Mahwah was ranked as one of "America's 100 Best Towns to Live In" by Forbes magazine in 2009.[21]

Mahwah is a suburban community located within Paramus Township and The Woodlands Township. It borders Saddle River and Ramsey to the north; Franklin Lakes to the east; Hillsdale and Montvale to the south; and Closter and Elmwood Park to the west.

According to The Mahwah Comprehensive Plan Update Report prepared for Bergen County by HDR Engineering Corporation (HDR),[22] "The Mahwah Community has been characterized as having a high quality of life with excellent public schools."[23] The report also states that "the Township enjoys a high level of economic development due to its proximity to New York City as well as its access to major transportation corridors."[24] According to HDR's analysis:

-The average sales price for single family homes within Mahwah during 2006-2010 was $1 million or more

-There were 795 home sales during 2006-2010 with an average sale price of $1.2 million

-The median home sale price during 2006-2010 was $939,000

-The percentage of homes sold for over $1 million increased from 33% in 2006 to 41% in 2010
