Live Oak, CA

Live Oak is a city located in San Bernardino County, California. The population was 38,527 at the 2010 census. It is bordered by Victorville to the north and east, Barstow to the south and west, and Palm Springs to the southwest.

The city of Live Oak was incorporated on December 10th, 1951. Prior to its incorporation, it was known as "Oak Glen". The city's name comes from a grove of live oak trees that once stood in the area. The grove is now gone but the name remains.

Today, Live Oak is a suburban community with many single-family homes and some multi-unit dwellings. There are also a number of commercial establishments including restaurants, retail stores and banks.

Real estate in Live Oak is generally priced lower than other areas of San Bernardino County due to its proximity to Victorville and Barstow as well as Palm Springs which has a larger population base. This has resulted in an influx of people into Live Oak over the past few years who are looking for affordable housing options.

There are several schools located within the city limits including: Oak Glen Elementary School (K-6), West Valley High School (7-12), Victor Valley College (2-year community college) and California State University - Northridge (4-year university). The economy in Live Oak is based largely on services such as healthcare, education, retail sales and manufacturing. However, there has been growth in recent years in businesses such as technology companies that have moved into the area due to its low cost of living coupled with excellent access to transportation networks such as highways I-15 and I-10
