Maywood, CA

Maywood, California is a suburb of Los Angeles. The population was 106,844 as of the 2010 census. It is bordered by the city of Los Angeles to the south and east, Bellflower to the north, and unincorporated areas of Los Angeles County to the west.

The community was founded in 1903 by George W. May and his wife, Lillian. The May family operated a general store and post office until 1924 when they sold the property to developers who built homes on what is now known as Maywood Boulevard. In 1927, Maywood became an incorporated city with a population of 2,500 people.

Today, Maywood is home to many affluent families who reside in well-maintained neighborhoods with ample green space. Its commercial district features several upscale shopping centers and restaurants that cater to residents' needs. Public schools in Maywood are highly rated and include both traditional neighborhood schools as well as magnet programs that provide students with unique opportunities unavailable in other schools.
