Pacoima, CA

Pacoima is a city located in the San Fernando Valley region of Los Angeles County, California. The population was estimated at 103,922 in 2013 by the United States Census Bureau. Pacoima is home to the Pacoima Unified School District and its high school, Pacoima Collegiate Institute.

The city has experienced rapid growth since its incorporation in 1923. In 1930, there were only 1,000 people living in Pacoima; by 1990 that number had increased to over 30,000. The population continued to grow rapidly through the 1990s and 2000s as new housing developments were constructed near the city's borders. In 2013, the estimated population was 103,922 people.

The primary economic engines of Pacoima are retail and commercial businesses; these sectors have been responsible for much of the city's recent growth. Retail businesses include restaurants and convenience stores as well as major department stores such as Macy's and Sears. Commercial businesses include office buildings and manufacturing plants. Manufacturing plants that operate in Pacoima include Toyota Motor Manufacturing de Baja California (TMMBC), which produces Tacoma trucks for sale throughout North America, and General Motors' plant that manufactures Chevrolet Cruze sedans for sale throughout North America.

A large percentage of residents commute to work outside of Pacoima; this includes workers who reside in neighboring cities such as Glendale and Burbank as well as workers who reside in other parts of Los Angeles County or even other parts of California. A significant percentage of residents also commute to work within Pacoima; this includes workers who reside within the boundaries of the city itself as well as workers who reside within a short distance from the city but work elsewhere in Los Angeles County or even other parts of California
