Pinecrest is a city located in Los Angeles County, California. As of the 2010 census, the population was 10,827. The median income for a household in the city was $130,000. The per capita income for the city was $70,521. About 2.5% of families and 4.2% of the population were below the poverty line, including 5.4% of those under age 18 and 3.7% of those age 65 or over.

The history of Pinecrest can be traced back to 1887 when it was founded as a small farming community by Henry Ehrlich and his wife Bertha Ehrlich on land that they had purchased from José Sepulveda. In 1906, Pinecrest became an incorporated town with a population of 1,500 people and boasted three businesses: a general store, a hotel operated by Jules Stein and Harry Chandler (the father of Harlow Chandler), and a creamery owned by George Waring & Co.. By 1930, Pinecrest had grown to 6,000 residents and boasted 14 businesses including two banks (the Bank of America National Association and First National Bank), four churches (First Presbyterian Church; St John's Episcopal Church; Mount Zion Baptist Church; Central Christian Church), two movie theaters (The Majestic Theatre; The Paramount Theatre), three ice cream parlors (Frosty Flake's Dairy Bar; Scoops Ice Cream Parlor; Mr Whippy's Ice Cream Shop), two newspapers (The Pinecrest News-Press & The Sentinel) as well as several restaurants such as Tony Roma's Pizzeria & Grill and Donut King Bakery & Cafe).

In 1957, developer Robert Hahn purchased approximately 8 acres in what would become known as "The Highlands" area adjacent to downtown Pinecrest from José Sepulveda Jr., intending to build high-rise apartments which would rival those being built in downtown Los Angeles at that time. However, due to local opposition led by then-mayor Earl Warren who feared that such high-rise development would change the character of what had been dubbed "Little Hollywood", Hahn decided not to proceed with his plans and instead developed low-rise apartments which are still being occupied today by many longtime residents of Pinecrest

In 1978 developer Richard Blum purchased approximately 20 acres adjacent to The Highlands area from José Sepulveda Jr., intending to develop luxury condominiums which would rival those being built in Newport Beach at that time。 However again due to local opposition led by then-mayor Earl Warren who feared that such high-rise development would change the character of what had been dubbed "Little Hollywood", Blum decided not to proceed with his plans and instead developed low-rise apartments which are still being occupied today by many longtime residents of Pinecrest

Since 1978 there have been no major developments in or around Pinecrest aside from some new housing developments popping up here or there but overall things have remained relatively stable with most people continuing to live their lives just like they always have。

It should be noted however that since 2007 there has been an influx into Pinecrest primarily made up immigrants from Mexico who are looking for affordable housing close proximity to Downtown Los Angeles while also having access to all that this vibrant city has to offer。
