South Glastonbury is a town in Hartford County, Connecticut, United States. The population was 9,812 at the 2010 census. It is part of the New Haven– Milford metropolitan area.
The town was first settled in 1701 by Nicholas Easton and others from Westfield, Massachusetts. Easton purchased of land from the Pequot Indians for 60 fathoms of wampum and a gun. The town was incorporated on October 12, 1786. South Glastonbury is home to the Glastonbury Torpedo Factory (now closed), which manufactured torpedoes during World War II; it also has a large number of homes and businesses built around its historic downtown district that are listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
