Woodridge is a suburb of Chicago, Illinois. The population was 38,721 at the 2010 census. Woodridge is located in Cook County and is bordered by Naperville to the north, Aurora to the east, Barrington to the south and west, and Mount Prospect to the northwest.

The area that now comprises Woodridge was first settled in 1833 as part of a land grant given to Major General James K. Polk. The town's name honors John A. Wood (1802-1875), an early settler who served as mayor of Chicago from 1853-54 and as governor of Illinois from 1855-59. In 1889, the town's first post office opened under the name " Westville." In 1893, Westville changed its name to Woodridge after receiving a charter from the state legislature.

The earliest businesses in Woodridge were agricultural in nature; however, with time commercial development began to take hold. Today, there are numerous businesses located throughout Woodridge providing services such as retail sales, professional services, health care facilities and restaurants. In addition, there are several large corporate headquarters located within Woodridge including Abbott Laboratories (formerly known as Abbott & Costello Laboratories), Motorola Solutions Inc., Baxter International Inc., Sears Holdings Corporation and J&J Snack Foods LLC among others.
