Benton is a small town located in Polk County, Iowa. The population was 1,814 at the 2010 census. Benton is home to the Benton Community School District and the Benton Municipal Airport.

The history of Benton can be traced back to 1853 when John and Nancy (Dow) Benton settled on a tract of land south of present-day Benton. In 1856, they built a cabin on their land and named it " Bentonville". The town was platted in 1872 and officially incorporated in 1890.

Today, Benton is a thriving community with many businesses and attractions. The downtown area features several shops, restaurants, and bars. There are also several churches in the town that offer services to residents and visitors alike. The main attraction in Benton is the historic courthouse which was built in 1902. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is one of only two courthouses remaining from Iowa's territorial period (the other being Davenport). Other attractions include the Benton Community School District which has been providing quality education for students since 1906, as well as the Benton Municipal Airport which provides access to nearby cities such as Des Moines, Cedar Rapids, Waterloo, Dubuque, and Bettendorf.
