Lenexa, KS

Lenexa is a city located in Johnson County, Kansas, United States. As of the 2010 census, the city population was 32,711. Lenexa is part of the Kansas City metropolitan area.

Lenexa was founded in 1887 and named for John Lenexa, a railroad official. The city's early economy was based on agriculture and livestock. In the early 20th century, Lenexa became an industrial center due to its proximity to Kansas City and its railroads. Manufacturing plants produced farm equipment and other goods.

In recent years, Lenexa has experienced rapid growth as a result of its location within the Greater Kansas City Area and its strong economy. The city has seen significant investment in new residential and commercial development, including several large shopping centers anchored by major national retailers such as Macy's and Target. Additionally, Lenexa has seen significant investment in education with several universities locating in or near the city limits: Benedictine College ( Kansas), Metropolitan Community College- Lenexa ( Kansas), Shawnee State University (Ohio), University of Missouri- Kansas City (Missouri) and Wichita State University ( Wichita).

The real estate market in Lenexa is highly competitive with prices ranging from moderate to high depending on location and size of property. Recent trends have seen more buyers opting for smaller properties closer to town while sellers are increasingly seeking larger lots further away from town but within desirable neighborhoods such as Country Club Hills or Westwood Lakeshore Estates which offer excellent access to amenities such as shopping malls, schools and parks
