Wenham is a town in Essex County, Massachusetts, United States. The population was 12,811 at the 2010 census. Wenham is located on the north bank of the Merrimack River opposite Methuen and south of Lawrence.
The town was first settled in 1630 as part of Andover. Wenham was incorporated as a separate town in 1798. The town's name is derived from Wenhampton in Sussex, England.
Wenham is home to many historic homes and estates including the Governor John Winthrop House (built 1637), which now serves as a museum; the Samuel Adams House (built 1734); and the estate of Robert Frost (built 1874). The Everett Mill Historic District includes several mill buildings from 18th century that are now used for other purposes; they are listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

The town lies along both banks of the Merrimack River opposite Methuen to its south and Lawrence to its north; much Wenham land lies below mean high water mark on either side of riverbanks
