The Price of Home in Weston, MA

Weston is a town in Middlesex County, Massachusetts, United States. The population was 21,906 at the 2010 census. Weston is located about 12 miles west of downtown Boston and is part of the Greater Boston metropolitan area.

The town was first settled in 1630 as part of Charlestown. It was named for Weston Priory in Somerset, England. The priory had been founded by Sir Walter Raleigh in 1539 and had been sacked by the Spanish Armada in 1588. In 1630, a group of settlers led by Captain John Mason purchased land from the Wampanoag sachem Massasoit for what would become Weston Village. The first house built in Weston was probably a modest affair built by Captain Mason himself on what is now Mason Street near the intersection with North Main Street (now known as King's Highway).

In 1635, construction began on what would become Weston's first church - First Church (later renamed West Parish). The church was completed that year and served both the English settlers and their Native American neighbors until 1725 when it became known as King's Chapel after being given to the colony by King George II.

In 1775 during the American Revolution, British troops marched through Weston en route to Lexington and Concord where they were met by colonial militia forces led by Paul Revere. On April 19th of that year, Revere rode through Weston warning residents about British troop movements south towards Boston.

The town grew rapidly after 1800 due to its strategic location between Boston and Worcester on major transportation routes including Route 128 which opened in 1955 connecting it to both cities via interchanges at Exit 10A ( Boston) and Exit 9 ( Worcester). This growth resulted in numerous residential subdivisions being developed including Brookline Hills (1957), Westborough Woods (1963), Weston Lakes (1967), Westbrook Estates (1971), Windmill Hill Estates (1973), Woodlands at Westbrook Pond(1975)and more recently Westbrook Commons(2005)and Westbrook Station(2009).

It has also seen significant commercial development with notable examples including Staples Center which opened in 1995 adjacent to Route 128; Dunkin' Donuts which opened its first store outside of Massachusetts in 1996; Bed Bath & Beyond which opened its first store outside of Massachusetts in 1998; Office Depot which opened its first store outside of Massachusetts in 2000; TJ Maxx which opened its first store outside of Massachusettsin 2003; Applebee'swhichopeneditsfirststoreoutsideof Massachusettsin2004andmorerecentlyLululemon Athleticawhichopeneditsfirststoreoutsideof Massachusettsin2013 .
