Lowell is a city in Oakland County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 21,848 at the 2010 census. Lowell was founded in 1825 and incorporated as a village in 1875. It became a city in 1903.

The city is located on the southeast side of Pontiac Lake, about west of Detroit and about east of Lansing. Interstate 75 forms the northern boundary of Lowell, with I-94 forming its eastern boundary. The city is bisected by US-23, which runs through downtown from north to south and forms part of the western border with Auburn Hills to the southwest; US-23 also forms part of the eastern border with Waterford Township to the northeast. Downtown Lowell is located just south of I-75 at Exit 131 ( Michigan Avenue).

According to 2010 census data, 61% of residents have a high school diploma or higher, compared to 34% for Michigan as a whole; 7% have a bachelor's degree or higher, compared to 22% for Michigan as a whole; and 2% have an advanced degree, compared to 11% for Michigan as a whole.
