Troy, MI

Troy, Michigan is a city located in the U.S. state of Michigan and the county seat of Oakland County. The population was 116,095 at the 2010 census. Troy is part of the Detroit metropolitan area and is adjacent to Dearborn, Livonia, West Bloomfield Township and Farmington Hills.

The city's economy has been based on manufacturing (particularly automotive) since its founding in 1824; however, it has experienced significant growth in recent decades as a result of its proximity to Detroit and its suburban bedroom community developments. Troy has also become known for its high-quality education system, with many students attending universities such as University of Michigan– Dearborn or Wayne State University in Detroit.

Real estate in Troy is typically expensive due to its proximity to Detroit and other affluent suburbs; however, there are a number of affordable neighborhoods located within the city limits as well as nearby Farmington Hills and West Bloomfield Township. The city's infrastructure includes numerous parks and recreational facilities as well as an extensive network of roads and highways.
