Beach Haven is a borough in Monmouth County, New Jersey, United States. As of the 2010 United States Census, the borough's population was 9,812,[11][12] reflecting an increase of 1,521 (+27.4%) from the 6,814 counted in the 2000 Census.[13]
The borough was formed on April 1, 1894 by an act of the New Jersey Legislature from portions of Freehold Township and Howell Township.[14] The borough is named for its location on Long Beach Island. The name " Beach Haven" is also used for a section of Long Beach Island that lies within Howell Township and borders Oceanport to the east and west; this section is known as " Beach Haven Heights".[15][16]
According to the United States Census Bureau, Beach Haven has a total area of 2.2 square miles (5.7 km2), all land.[17]
As of the census[18] of 2000, there were 6,814 people, 2,936 households, and 1,980 families residing in the borough. The population density was 3,746.1 people per square mile (1,453.0/km²). There were 3,055 housing units at an average density of 1,557.6 per square mile (600.3/km²). The racial makeup of the borough was 97.92% White , 0.72% African American , 0.07% Native American , 0 .24% Asian , 0 .02% Pacific Islander , 0 .51% from other races , and 0 .97% from two or more races .
