Hillside is a borough in Bergen County, New Jersey, United States. As of the 2010 United States Census, the borough's population was 10,898,[1][2] reflecting an increase of 556 (+5.4%) from the 9,912 counted in the 2000 Census, which had in turn increased by 1,611 (+14.7%) from the 8,269 counted in the 1990 Census.[3]

Hillside is located at 40°36′N 74°48′W (40.6300°N -74.8500°W). According to the United States Census Bureau, Hillside has a total area of 2.362 square miles (6.039 km2), including 2.309 square miles (5.971 km2) of land and 0.071 square mile (0.183 km2) of water (0.22%).[4]

The borough borders Hackensack to the north and east; Rutherford to the south; and Union City to the west and northwest.[5][6] The Hackensack River forms its eastern boundary with Rutherford while its southern border is formed by Route 495.[7][8]
