Oakland, NJ

Oakland is a borough in Bergen County, New Jersey, United States. As of the 2010 United States Census, the borough's population was 18,521, reflecting an increase of 1,814 (+26.2%) from the 16,972 counted in the 2000 Census.

Oakland was incorporated as a borough on April 11, 1898 from portions of Hackensack Township and Saddle River Township. The borough was named for Oakland County in Michigan.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the borough had a total area of 2.732 square miles (7.023 km), including 2.691 square miles (6.984 km) of land and 0.031 square mile (0.081 km) of water (0.10%).

The borough borders Saddle River Township to the north and east; Hackensack Township to the south and west; and Union City to the northwest across Route 495/ New Jersey Turnpike/Interstate 95
