Sea Girt, NJ

Sea Girt is a borough in Monmouth County, New Jersey, United States. As of the 2010 United States Census, the borough's population was 2,851,[7][8] reflecting an increase of 168 (+5.4%) from the 2,621 counted in the 2000 Census.[9]

The borough was formed on April 1, 1894, from portions of Freehold Township and Howell Township.[10] The borough's name is derived from its location at the southern tip of Sea Girt Peninsula. The peninsula forms part of Long Beach Island and separates Monmouth County from Ocean County.

According to the United States Census Bureau, Sea Girt had a total area of 0.934 square miles (2.482 km2), including 0.916 square miles (2.490 km2) of land and 0.012 square miles (0.030 km2) of water (0.30%).[1][11]

The borough borders Howell Township to the north; Freehold Township to the east; Long Branch to the south; and Asbury Park to the west
