Avon Lake, OH

Avon Lake is a suburb of Cleveland, Ohio. The population was 33,837 at the 2010 census. Avon Lake is bordered by Cleveland to the north, Independence to the east, Mayfield Heights to the south and Westlake to the west.

Avon Lake began as a small farming community in 1873. The first major development in Avon Lake was the opening of a streetcar line in 1904 that connected it with downtown Cleveland. In 1915, Avon Lake became home to one of America's first planned communities when developers created Woodland Hills. Woodland Hills was an exclusive enclave of large homes on large lots that quickly became known for its beauty and tranquility.

Today, Avon Lake is home to many upscale neighborhoods including The Lakes at Avon and Legacy Estates which are both ranked among the top 10% wealthiest zip codes in America according to Forbes magazine. Other popular neighborhoods include Fox Chase Village which features Tudor style homes and tree-lined streets, Country Club Estates which offers golfing opportunities and stunning views of Rocky River from its elevated homesites, and Brookside which features well-maintained single family homes on large lots with mature trees lining streetscapes throughout the community.
