Baltimore, OH

Baltimore is a city located in the U.S. state of Ohio, and it is the county seat of Baltimore County. As of the 2010 census, the city had a population of 219,619. The Greater Baltimore area had a population of about 1,569,000 in 2013.

Baltimore has been inhabited for thousands of years by various cultures including the Hopewell Indians and later by European Americans who developed tobacco plantations in Maryland and Ohio before 1800. In 1812, General William Henry Harrison led an American army through Baltimore on its way to victory at the Battle of North Point during the War of 1812 against Great Britain.

The city's economy was based on manufacturing until after World War II when it began to grow as a center for medical research and biotechnology industries. Since then it has experienced continued growth as a result of its proximity to Washington D.C., its educational institutions (including Johns Hopkins University), and its growing high-tech sector.
