Bowling Green is a city in Warren County, Ohio, United States. The population was 34,812 at the 2010 census. Bowling Green is the county seat of Warren County. It is part of the Cincinnati metropolitan area.

The city was founded in 1788 by General John Filson and Colonel Joshua Fry and named for Bowling Green, Kentucky. Bowling Green was incorporated as a village in 1802 and as a city in 1835. It became an important center for trade on the National Road (U.S. Route 40) and served as the capital of Ohio from 1803 to 1809 during the presidency of James Kirtland.
