Commerce, Oklahoma is a town located in Tulsa County, Oklahoma. The population was 10,811 at the 2010 census. Commerce is home to the world's largest indoor water park, Six Flags Over Texas.

Commerce was founded in 1907 and named after Commerce City, Colorado. The town was originally settled by farmers and ranchers who raised cattle and crops. In 1910, the first train arrived in Commerce and by 1915 it had a post office, school and several businesses. In 1916, the town had its first bank and two years later it had its first movie theater. By 1920 there were over 100 businesses in Commerce.

In 1921 oil was discovered near Commerce and within a few years the town became known as "The Oil Capital of the World." By 1930 there were over 1,000 businesses in Commerce and it had its own airport. The Great Depression hit commerce hard however and many of the businesses closed down or moved away. However, by 1940 there were still over 1,000 businesses in Commerce including several banks, four movie theaters (one of which still operates), three radio stations (two of which still operate), two hospitals (one of which still operates), three hotels (one of which still operates), two newspapers (the now defunct " Commerce Tribune" and "The Daily Oklahoman"), two insurance companies (now defunct) as well as several other small businesses.

During World War II there was a large military presence in Commerce due to its proximity to Fort Sill Military Base as well as Tinker Air Force Base. This led to an increase in business activity as servicemen needed supplies or services unavailable elsewhere in Oklahoma at that time such as groceries or clothes. After World War II commerce continued to grow with new businesses opening up including restaurants such as Bob's Big Boy restaurant chain as well as convenience stores such QuikTrip gas stations which are now ubiquitous across America thanks to their aggressive marketing campaigns during that time period

By 1970 there were over 2,000 businesses in Commerce including five banks (now four) four supermarkets (now one) three drugstores (now one) two hardware stores (now one) one department store (now Macy's) one restaurant chain ("Bob's Big Boy") one tire store ("Goodyear") one barber shop ("Ed's Barber Shop") one beauty salon ("Diane's Hair Salon") one funeral home ("Hillcrest Memorial Park") six churches (four Protestant denominations plus two Catholic churches), five schools including both public schools and private schools ,and thirteen other small business In 1990 commerce had 3rd largest population growth rate among all U .S . towns with populations greater than 10 thousand people (.9 percent).
