Clinton is a borough in Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 1,871 at the 2010 census. Clinton is located at 40°5′59″N 76°10′1″W / 40.083°N 76.167°W / 40.083; -76.167 (40.084656, -76.172778).
Clinton was founded in 1798 by Nicholas Clinton and named for his father-in-law, William Penn's Secretary of State, Sir William Johnson.[3] Clinton became an incorporated borough on October 9, 1892.[4] The borough's economy is based on agriculture and tourism with the main attractions being the Clinton County Historical Society Museum and the nearby Appalachian Trail crossing of Tuscarora Mountain.[5]
According to the United States Census Bureau, the borough has a total area of 0.7 square miles (1.8 km2), all of it land.[6]
As of the census[7] of 2000, there were 1,941 people, 711 households, and 524 families residing in the borough. The population density was 2,236 people per square mile (892/km²).
