Shamokin Dam is a small town located in the Shamokin Dam area of Pennsylvania. The population of Shamokin Dam was 1,851 as of the 2010 census. The town is located in Northumberland County and is bordered by the towns of Sunbury to the north, Shippensburg to the east, and Carlisle to the south.

The history of Shamokin Dam can be traced back to 1792 when a group of settlers from Cumberland County founded what would eventually become known as Shamokin Dam. The town's name comes from an Indian word meaning "big water." Early residents of Shamokin Dam worked primarily in agriculture and coal mining, but over time other industries began to emerge including manufacturing and tourism.
