Lewisville is a city located in Denton County, Texas, United States. As of the 2010 census, the population was 97,812. It is part of the Dallas– Fort Worth metroplex. Lewisville is home to The University of North Texas and its athletic programs as well as several other businesses and organizations.

Lewisville began as a small town in 1881 when it was founded by Colonel William B. Travis and his wife Margaret (née Hamilton). The town's name honors General James K. Polk's secretary of war, Lewis Cass. Lewisville grew rapidly after World War II due to the construction of The University of North Texas and other businesses and organizations in the area. In recent years, Lewisville has seen significant growth with new development including apartments and shopping centers around The University of North Texas campus.
