Auburndale is a small town located in Dane County, Wisconsin. The population was 2,898 at the 2010 census. Auburndale is located on the western edge of Madison and is bordered by Monona to the south, Middleton to the east, and Verona to the north.
The town was first settled in 1837 and was originally called " New Auburndale". The name was changed to Auburndale in 1853 in honor of Dr. James Auburndale, a physician who served as president of Union College (now University of Wisconsin- Madison) from 1849-1853.
