Eagle, WI: A Community on the Rise

Eagle is a small town located in the north-central part of Wisconsin. The population was 1,813 at the 2010 census. Eagle is located in Price County and has a land area of 2.5 square miles. The town is bordered by the Town of Hayward to the east, the Town of Prescott to the south, and the Town of Saukville to the west.

The first settlers arrived in Eagle in 1845. The town was originally named "Pleasant Valley" after Pleasant Valley Creek which ran through it. In 1851, a post office was established and named " Eagle". In 1853, a sawmill was built and soon afterward a general store followed suit. By 1870, there were enough people living in Eagle that they formed their own school district which included parts of Prescott and Saukville as well as Hayward Township (which would later be annexed into Eagle).

In 1880, an electric light plant was built in Eagle and within 10 years there were six businesses operating with electricity including two banks, two hotels/motels, two grain elevators (one still operates), two newspapers (the current newspaper still prints using electricity), three churches (including one Lutheran church which still operates), one opera house (now used for concerts), one ice cream parlor/candy store, one barber shop/beauty salon, one blacksmith shop (still operational), and one hardware store. By 1900 there were 16 businesses operating with electricity including five banks (two now closed), four churches (two now closed), three grain elevators (one now closed), three newspapers (two now defunct), two opera houses/concert halls (both currently inactive but both operated previously by different owners), one ice cream parlor/candy store, one barber shop/beauty salon, one blacksmith shop (still operational), and one hardware store. There were also four schools operating: two elementary schools serving grades K-6th grade; an intermediate school serving grades 7-8th grade; and a high school serving grades 9-12th grade).

In 1907 an addition to the high school was constructed which doubled its enrollment capacity from 100 students to 200 students making it Wisconsin's second largest high school at that time behind only Madison's East High School which had an enrollment of over 300 students at that time. In 1917 another addition was constructed to house more classrooms increasing its enrollment capacity again to 350 students making it Wisconsin's third largest high school at that time behind only Madison's East High School and Milwaukee's North High School which both had enrollment capacities over 400 students respectively .

By 1920 there were enough people living in Eagle that they formed their own city charter rather than being part of either Hayward or Prescott townships as they had been before . That same year construction began on what would become Eagles' first hospital: Eagles Hospital opened its doors on October 1st 1920 with 108 beds providing care for residents of Price County as well as patients from surrounding counties who came for treatment . In 1929 Eagles' first fire department opened with 11 volunteer firefighters who responded to calls throughout Price County . Today there are 28 full-time firefighters working out of Station #1 located on Main Street .

The 1930s saw significant growth for Eagle with new businesses opening including a grocery store chain called "Food 4 Less", several clothing stores such as JCPenney & Sears Roebuck & Co., several restaurants such as WhiteFinder listing multiple restaurants within walking distance from each other such as Joe & Joanne's Pizza & Subs., Murphy Oil USA Headquarters located just outside town on Highway 59 near Interstate 94 Exit 137A , numerous service stations such as Mobil Gasoline station #2 just south off Highway 59 near I94 Exit 137B , numerous convenience stores such as 7-Eleven Store #3 just north off Highway 59 near I94 Exit 137C , numerous car dealerships such as Ford Motor Company dealership #4 just east off Highway 59 near I94 Exit 137D , numerous insurance companies like State Farm Insurance Company dealership #5 just west off Highway 59 near I94 Exit 137E , numerous doctors offices including Drs Phillips Dentist Office 6 just south off Highway 59 next door to Murphy Oil USA Headquarters ), multiple churches including First United Methodist Church 7 just northeast off Main Street next door to Eagles Hospital ), multiple schools including Eaglestown Elementary School 8 southeast corner Main Street & Hwy59 ), Walker Middle School 9 northwest corner Main Street & Hwy59 ), Price Memorial Hospital 10 southwest corner Main Street & Hwy59 ). With all these new businesses coming into town it became necessary for local officials to create zoning regulations so that all these new businesses could operate without conflict or nuisance from each other . This led to the creation of what is today known locally simply referred to simply "The Zoning Code" or more formally known locally simply "The Municipal Code Of Ordinances Of The City Of Eaglestown" covering everything from business licenses requirements (& fines associated with not having proper business licenses) down to specific regulations governing how many parking spaces are required per business type along with specifying where those parking spaces must be located etc... ). Today this zoning code remains essentially unchanged since its original adoption over 80 years ago except for updates made necessary by changes in technology or advances in building practices etc... ).

With all this growth however came some challenges too namely: traffic congestion due mainly due increased automobile usage combined with limited roadway infrastructure resulting in long wait times during peak hours especially during rush hour; water shortages experienced primarily during drought conditions when demand exceeds available supply causing water rates increase up 50% or more compared normal rates; lack availability affordable housing especially compared prices during previous decades when housing prices averaged around $30K - $40K ; vandalism occurring primarily during night hours when property values are lower due mainly because most people are home sleeping ; crime rates generally increasing across America although decreasing slightly since 2000 specifically affecting small towns like Eagle ); health concerns arising primarily from air pollution consisting mostly ozone created by automobiles combined with other pollutants emitted by factories ; noise levels becoming increasingly louder especially late at night when most people are asleep leading many residents either leaving town altogether or moving closer together inside their homes instead )). Despite these challenges however overall life has continued relatively unchanged for most residents living here since 1940s onwards except perhaps for increased awareness among some residents about potential environmental consequences associated with various local economic activities ).
