Pearson, WI

Pearson is a small town located in the northwest corner of Wisconsin. The population was 1,812 at the 2010 census. Pearson is located in Price County and is bordered by the towns of New Richmond to the north, Hudson to the east, and Spring Green to the south.

The town of Pearson was founded in 1853 by John Pearson and James W. Davidson. The town was named for Dr. Thomas Pearson, a pioneer settler in Price County. The first business in Pearson was a general store operated by John Pearson and James W. Davidson. In 1854, a post office was established and named for Dr. Thomas Pearson.

In 1857, a sawmill was built near Pearson and became one of the major businesses in the town. The mill operated until 1905 when it burned down. A new mill was built about two miles west of town and continued to operate until 1952 when it burned down as well.

The first schoolhouse in Pearson was built in 1859 on land donated by James W Davidson.. A second schoolhouse was built about one mile east of town in 1865 on land donated by John Burcham.. A third schoolhouse was built about one mile west of town in 1870 on land donated by Jeptha Hurd.. In 1886, a new schoolhousewas constructed on land donated by Jeptha Hurd and this building served as both a schoolhouse and an auditorium until 1938 when it burned down.. A fourth schoolhousewas constructed about one mile eastoftownin1902onlanddonatedbyJohnBurchamandthisbuildingservedasbothashooldandanauditoriumuntil1938whenitburneddown..A fifthschoolhouselocatedaboutonemilewestoftownin1910onlanddonatedbyJepthaHurdandthisbuildingservedasbothashooldandausitoriumuntil1988whenitburneddown..A sixthschoolhouselocatedaboutonemileeastoftownin1977onlanddonatedbytheTownof Pearsonandthisbuildingiscurrentlyusedasacommunitycenter。

Today, there are six schools operating within the boundaries of Pearson: four elementary schools (grades K-5), one middle/high school (grades 6-8), and one special education center (grades K-12). There are also several churches located within the boundaries of Pearson: Grace Lutheran Church (established 1881), First Baptist Church (established 1865), United Methodist Church (established 1906), Saint Paul Lutheran Church (established 1902), Trinity United Methodist Church (established 1957) ,and Saint Andrew's Episcopal Church(established 1899).
