Mentone is a small town located in the San Fernando Valley of Los Angeles County, California. The population was 10,812 at the 2010 census. Mentone is bordered by Woodland Hills to the north, Tarzana to the east and southeast, Sun Valley to the south and west, and Canoga Park to the northwest.

The town was founded in 1922 by two real estate developers from Chicago named Harry Chandler and his son-in-law Irving Thalberg. They purchased a tract of land on which they built a small ranch house and began selling plots of land for homesites. In 1924 they incorporated as Mentone Land Company and began developing their property into a planned community with streets laid out in a grid pattern. The first homes were completed in 1925.

Mentone is known for its Mediterranean Revival architecture, which can be seen throughout the town's neighborhoods including Laurel Canyon Boulevard (a major thoroughfare), Sierra Madre Avenue (the main shopping street), and Villa Drive (home to many celebrity estates). Today Mentone is one of Los Angeles' most affluent communities with an average household income over $100,000.
