Broadway, NJ

Broadway is a small town located in Morris County, New Jersey. The population of Broadway was 8,827 as of the 2010 United States Census. Broadway is home to the Broadway Theatre District, which is a historic district that was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978. The district includes more than 50 contributing buildings and structures, including several theaters and commercial buildings from the early 20th century.

The town's economy has been based largely on its historic downtown area, which has been designated a National Historic Landmark. However, since the late 1990s Broadway has seen an influx of new businesses and residents due to its proximity to New York City and Philadelphia. As a result, Broadway's economy now relies more on services than manufacturing.

Broadway is located in central Morris County at 40°5′N 74°10′W / 40.094°N 74.183°W / 40.094; -74.183 (40.094,-74.183). According to the United States Census Bureau, the town had a total area of 2.711 square miles (6.979 km2), including 2.698 square miles (6.885 km2) of land and 0 .087 square mile (0 .253 km2) of water (1%).

The town is bisected by Interstate 80/95, with portions south of I-80 lying within Essex County and portions north lying within Morris County The borough borders Newark to the north-northwest; Morristown to the east; Chatham Township to the south; Randolph Township to the southwest; and Hanover Township to the west
