New Providence is a small town located in Morris County, New Jersey. The population of the town was 8,827 as of the 2010 census. It is part of the Morristown- Lincroft, NJ Metropolitan Statistical Area.

The history of New Providence can be traced back to 1686 when Dutch settlers established a farm on the banks of the Raritan River. The town was officially incorporated in 1798 and became known for its shipbuilding industry. In 1892, New Providence became home to one of America's first golf courses, designed by Willie Dunn. The course was later renamed "The Country Club at New Providence."
